Southside Cafe, Napa's New Favorite Breakfast Spot
I have been looking for a local breakfast spot in Napa that is not greasy diner food (I'm sorry Buttercream Bakery I still love you!) but not totally over the top expensive either. Not all of us can afford Auberge brunch weekly. Hell, lets be honest, yearly. I was looking for a nice, happy medium and fell short many times. Sure, there are places like Model Bakery or Andies Cafe where you can grab a quick and delicious bite, but I wanted something a little more.. homey.
Southside Cafe has an awesome Breakfast menu including everything from my guilty pleasure and apparently the reason millennials are broke, Avocado Toast, to some excellent Mexican dishes such as the Breakfast Tostadas (pictured below). To pair along side their delicious California cuisine they offer Wrecking Ball coffee which is SOOO good. Tea, horchata and Mexican hot chocolate are also great choices for the non coffee drinkers.. if you exist? The patio is a great (and dog friendly) place to sit and enjoy your morning, waking up slow while fueling your body with fresh, local ingredients. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Overall, this place has an all around great vibe.
Southside also offers a great Lunch menu (both breakfast and lunch are served all day) featuring similar California/ Latin influences. When it's time to trade coffee for wine, they have an excellent wine selection from their "friendly neighbors", meaning, all local. For those of you stopping in after a weekend or day filled with cabernet to the point of overkill, beer is also available. We get it, sometimes amateurs need a break from wine.
This well run little cafe is my new go to spot and I look forward to trying everything on the menu. I highly recommend Southside to the person looking for a great, affordable, casual meal, while also looking to support local businesses.
